The Art of Intake - Fellows Collaborative Skills Training

How do you get Collaborative cases? That’s the question everyone asks. There is no magic pool somewhere, no list of clients clamoring for a Collaborative attorney. What exists are clients who are eager to remain amicable, to use a confidential process and not air their differences publicly, to protect the children from what litigation does to them, to retain better control of the timing and pacing of their process, to manage the costs of their divorce, to avoid positional experts, and so on. These clients come to our doors asking us to help them with their divorce, and it’s up to us to help them understand the process choices and the pros and cons of each. The initial intake is the point of entry into a case, and how you discuss the process choices with the client will determine what process they choose. We have learned over time that the intake is the place where Collaborative cases are made or lost. Attend this program and learn how professionals who have successfully gotten Collaborative cases use intake to do so.
