Collaborative problem-solving depends on the willingness of team members to entertain alternative solutions and the ability to recognize and manage assumptions and biases. While we know that diverse teams offer rich raw material for creative solutions, we also know they can be challenging as different worldviews collide. This training, lead by Donna Younger, will examine ways for teams to cultivate the potential of team diversity by recognizing the assumptions and preferences that arise from characteristics such socioeconomic background, race, and culture. Once the nature of team diversity is explored, members can bridge differences with skills of self-awareness and interpersonal communication.

This training will enable you to:

1. Identify your worldview and its impact on your assumptions about people and work.

2. Recognize biases about those with different backgrounds and identify ways to

manage them.

3. Assess ways that a diverse team contributes to the effectiveness of CLII teams.
